PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arcturus Ulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ulver is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Dunkelheit. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Martin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Ulver has one foot on Martin's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Ulver tries to clinch up but Martin circles away and keeps his distance.

Martin gets the takedown into side control.
Martin tries to move into full mount but can't pass Ulver's legs.
Ulver is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Ulver is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Martin advances to full mount.
Poor strikes thrown by Martin there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Martin jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ulver is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ulver and Martin has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Ulver is looking to reverse the position.
Martin tries to score with some ground and pound. Ulver controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Ulver is trying to buck Martin off.
Martin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Martin wants to control but Ulver is keeping him busy.

Martin has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ulver!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ulver has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Ulver sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Martin is breathing heavily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Martin passes to full mount!
Martin looking to finish Ulver with some ground and pound. This is bad for Ulver!

Ulver is trying desperately to improve position.
Martin trying to control but Ulver is having none of it.

Martin swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Ulver is now in Martin's guard. A big mistake from Martin there, giving up the dominant position!

Martin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ulver doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ulver manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Martin has his feet on Ulver's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Ulver wants to land a leg kick but Martin is out of range.
Ulver keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Martin looks for a takedown but Ulver sprawls well.

Ulver throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ulver wants to clinch.
Ulver tries to clinch but Martin moves out of range.
Ulver looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Ulver throws a head kick that misses.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Martin takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
A thudding body kick lands there by Ulver!
Martin shoots in looking for a takedown. Ulver tries to sprawl out of it but Martin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ulver manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Martin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ulver is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Martin drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Martin seems to have locked his on tight now - Ulver screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Martin, as he picks up the win!
