Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kobe James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Pure!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pure moves into the clinch successfully.

Pure tightens his grip and picks James up, before dumping him to the ground. James manages to land in guard.
James will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
James controls Pure momentarily but Pure frees himself.
Pure controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Pure's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Pure sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed James's guard.
Pure scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

James really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pure connects with a nice short shot to James's temple.
James tries to roll over but Pure keeps him under control.
Pure looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

It looks like Pure might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. John Pure was stalling too much, according to the referee.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Pure wasn't active enough on the ground.

James tries to keep at a distance but Pure has taken the fight into the clinch.

Pure drags the fight down to the ground.
Pure managing to control the position.
Pure bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in James's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pure controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Pure pushes down on James's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Pure has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can James defend it? Pure steps over the head and cranks it - James is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Pure!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Pure!
