Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jake Dean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Viacheslav Eltsov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dean closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Eltsov's guard.
Dean is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Dean postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Eltsov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dean, into his guard.

Dean had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Eltsov defends it easily.
Eltsov wants to control from the top but Dean keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eltsov won't allow Dean to sweep him here.
Eltsov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Eltsov stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Dean shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dean showed some decent athleticism there.
Dean is stalling here. Eltsov is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Dean seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Eltsov has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Dean is desperately trying to improve his position but Eltsov has a good base and remains in mount.

Eltsov gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Eltsov gets caught flat footed, as Dean shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dean trying to control but Eltsov is working from the bottom.

Eltsov is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Dean changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Eltsov fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Eltsov decides to stand back up. Eltsov steps back and let's Dean get back to his feet.

Dean closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Eltsov makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Jake Dean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Eltsov pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Eltsov counters with a nice uppercut.

Eltsov misses with a low kick.

and Dean takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dean is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Eltsov pulls his head out easily.
Dean is looking to control Eltsov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dean avoid being mounted?

Dean tries to roll over but Eltsov keeps him under control.
Eltsov wants to stand up but Dean has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Dean is positioning himself well to prevent Eltsov advancing to mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dean is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Eltsov pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viacheslav Eltsov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Dean avoids the body shot from Eltsov.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Dean gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Dean shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dean was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Dean takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Eltsov tries to hold on but Dean postures up.
Eltsov tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dean can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Eltsov is looking to escape.
Dean misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Dean punching from mount but Eltsov doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Viacheslav Eltsov has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dean tries to control but Eltsov wriggling away.
Eltsov working to try and regain half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dean content just to control the position here.

Dean is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Eltsov has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Eltsov!

Dean is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Eltsov defends well.

Dean escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Eltsov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dean can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Eltsov controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dean wants to control but Eltsov passes into side.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Eltsov wants to stand but Dean is controlling his arm.
Jake Dean has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dean is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Jake Dean showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Eltsov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
