The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ester misses with a takedown

and Alfedo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ester's guard.

Alfedo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ester dives on top into guard.
Alfedo wants to stand up but Ester is controlling him.

Alfedo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ester can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Alfedo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
