Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Mann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slater is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Saliva - Ladies and Gentlemen. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slater just misses with a punch to the body.
Mann shoots in for a takedown but Slater shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Slater throws an off balance right hand
and Mann counters with a body kick.
Mann uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Slater.
Mann shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Slater sprawls well. Slater wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mann gets slowly back to his feet.

A slow jab from Slater misses its intended target.
Mann staying out of range there.
Jack Slater seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Slater swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Slater connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mann throws a lazy head kick
and Slater counters with a right hand to the body.
Slater thuds his right hand into Mann's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Mann's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Slater connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mann scrambles back to his feet.
Mann throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slater's waist but Slater gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mann off to one side.

Slater throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Mann throws a good cross that connects.

Slater throws a looping overhand right but Mann ducks down to avoid it.
Slater scores with a jab. Mann acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Mann on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Mann finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
A nice inside leg kick there by Slater. That's going to slow Mann down.

and Mann counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mann wants to work for an arm triangle but Slater is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mann is trying to control the action in half guard but Slater is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Mann is working for a kimura but Slater is defending it quite comfortably.
Slater is not content to let Mann control the position.
Mann throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mann is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Slater doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mann.

Mann is pressing down on Slater's thigh, looking to free his foot. Slater is holding on for now.

Mann seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

It looks like Jack Slater has been cut.
Mann has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Slater is trying to get back to full guard.

Slater takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Slater misses with a straight left.
Mann fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Slater checks it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Mann takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Mann takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Slater throws a lazy right hand but Mann sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Mann misses with a jab to the body
and Slater counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mann misses with a takedown attempt
and Slater counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Slater checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Slater throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Mann counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Slater's guard now.
Slater bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mann's guard.
Slater is looking to stand up but Mann won't let him.

Mann is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mann on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mann tries to get out of the position.

Mann has a closed guard, preventing Slater from standing up.

Slater stands and steps away. Mann gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Slater throws a series of punches but Mann avoids them all with ease.
Mann uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Slater.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
