PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marco Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marshall comes to the cage accompanied by Light My Fire. The crowd seem to be enjoying Walker's choice of entrance music: Tron. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Roy Walker enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marco Marshall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Walker!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marshall throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Walker tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Marshall is in Walker's guard.
Marshall passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Walker is trying to buck Marshall off.
Walker is not content to let Marshall control the position.
Walker wants to get back to his feet.

Marshall is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Walker is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Marshall is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Walker has escaped the position, nice work there.
The strikes coming from Marshall are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Marshall is trying to get an arm triangle but Walker is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marshall trying to control the action but Walker is working from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Marshall working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Walker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marshall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Walker is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Marshall asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Marshall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walker keeps working.
Walker parries the strikes from Marshall easily there. Marshall is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Walker to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Marshall misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Marshall tries for a kimura but Walker is defending well.
Marshall content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Marshall throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Marshall trying to control the position but Walker is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marco Marshall dominated that round.
That's time! Marshall's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Marshall fails with the takedown
and Walker counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Walker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Walker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Walker with a flurry of punches that miss.
Walker lands a couple of digs.
Walker is working Marshall over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Marshall looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walker is one step ahead there.
Walker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Marshall looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Marshall looking for a guillotine here but Walker defends easily.

Walker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marshall has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Walker has managed to get both his arms back between Marshall's legs - danger averted.

Walker lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Marshall is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Walker is looking to work some ground and pound but Marshall has wrist control.
Walker distracts Marshall with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Marshall avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Walker thows a big elbow that misses.
Walker trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Marshall is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Walker is aware though and is defending well.
Marshall looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Marshall thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Marshall is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Walker is trying to stand up here but Marshall is controlling him well.

Marshall looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Roy Walker will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Walker drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Marshall is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Walker off and has taken his back!
Walker avoids the strikes from Marshall.

Marshall struggling to land strikes to the head as Walker covers up.

Marshall has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Walker is in real trouble here. Marshall gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Walker is tapping out! Marshall wins by rear naked choke!
