The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbott throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Moonlight counters with a nice leg kick.
Abbott tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Moonlight does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Abbott rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Moonlight counters with an outside leg kick.
Moonlight misses with a leg kick
and Abbott cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Moonlight fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Moonlight turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

and Moonlight connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
David Abbott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Abbott thuds his right hand into Moonlight's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Abbott swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Moonlight counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Abbott is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Abbott counters with a low kick, right behind Moonlight 's knee.

and Moonlight counters with a nice low kick that buckles Abbott's knee momentarily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pale Moonlight is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Abbott scores with a hook to the body. Moonlight takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Moonlight takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Abbott misses with a left hand

Abbott takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Abbott tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Moonlight manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Abbott sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Abbott's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
