The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams with a poor takedown

and Shaw decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Adams's guard.
Shaw thows a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shaw postures up.
Adams is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Shaw drops back, looking for a kneebar! Adams looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Adams looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Adams!

Shaw wants to finish this one by submission but Adams is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Shaw.
Adams is bucking up trying to escape but Shaw cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
