The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Acevedes throws a right and a left that Smalls avoids nicely.
A right-left combo lands from Smalls.

Acevedes feints and as Smalls raises his hands in defense, Acevedes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Smalls is looking for a triangle but Acevedes pushes his legs off easily.
Acevedes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Acevedes wants to pass the guard but Smalls is keeping the position.
Smalls looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Acevedes throws a strike but Smalls rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Smalls stands up from Acevedes's guard - Smalls perhaps looking for a knockout.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Acevedes lands a glancing blow to the side of Smalls's head.

Acevedes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Smalls quickly recovers to half guard.

Smalls is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Acevedes pulls his head out easily.
Smalls wants to get back to full guard.

Acevedes is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Smalls is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
