PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manny Pacquiao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pacquiao has chosen Its Time for War as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Reggie Bear could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Manny Pacquiao's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Pacquiao.
Pacquiao bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Bear takes one to the side of the head.
Pacquiao stalks Bear and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bear's face. Bear staggers backwards, shaken.
Pacquiao throws a jab when Bear was well out of range.
Bear misses with a double jab
and Pacquiao counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Pacquiao lands a nice shot to the body.
Bear looks to score with a jab to the body but Pacquiao is just out of range.
Pacquiao misses with the combination.
Pacquiao looks to land a right hand but Bear moved out of range.
Pacquiao throws a hook but Bear avoids it easily.
Bear shoots in looking for a takedown but Pacquiao manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bear's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Bear takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Bear manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pacquiao on his heels. He'll look to pass Pacquiao's guard now, I'm sure.

Bear not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Pacquiao is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

and Bear makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Pacquiao swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bear feints a jab promting Pacquiao to slip. Bear then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Pacquiao slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

It looks like Manny Pacquiao has been cut.
Pacquiao looks gassed!

Pacquiao misses with a body punch

and Bear counters with a shoot takedown. Pacquiao fights it but they end up in guard.
Bear cracks Pacquiao with a solid left hand.

Bear takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Pacquiao flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pacquiao is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bear asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Bear slows the pace down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pacquiao pushes Bear away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bear gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Pacquiao is looking to reverse the position.
Bear has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Bear throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pacquiao's waist but Pacquiao gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bear off to one side.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Manny Pacquiao's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Manny Pacquiao's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
