PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Montros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emer Dlouze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Montros comes into the arena with Eye of the Tiger - Survivor blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Montros!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Emer Dlouze!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dlouze scores with a punch to the head.
Dlouze has a takedown stuffed.
Dlouze takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Montros throws a head kick but Dlouze moves out of range.
Montros misses with a body shot.
Dlouze takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Dlouze stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dlouze wants it to stay on the feet.
Montros looks to throw the jab but Dlouze is out of range.

Montros rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Dlouze counters with a two punch combo.
Dlouze moves out of range as Montros strikes.
Montros lands with a good body shot.

Montros swings widly with a right hand
and Montros takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Montros lands a glancing blow to the side of Dlouze's head.
Montros throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jason Montros seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Montros throws a hook but Dlouze blocks it.
Montros takes a swing at Dlouze's ribcage but misses.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Montros lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Dlouze has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Dlouze and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Dlouze moves out of range of the body kick from Montros.
Dlouze has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Dlouze there as he acknowledges the shot.

Dlouze uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Montros.
Dlouze avoids a punch combination nicely.
Montros is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Dlouze lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Montros swings widly with a right hand

and Dlouze counters with a takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Montros gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Montros is looking to improve his position.
Montros slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Montros is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dlouze is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Montros is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dlouze trying to control the position from guard on top but Montros is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Montros is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Montros is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Dlouze is defending well for now.

and Dlouze decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Montros's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Montros is on top in guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Emer Dlouze dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Dlouze throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Montros uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dlouze.
Montros finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Dlouze throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Dlouze decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Montros's guard.

Montros had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dlouze defends it easily.

Montros is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Dlouze wants to control from the top but Montros keeps moving.
Montros bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dlouze's guard.

Montros drops back looking for a leg! Dlouze is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dlouze manages to kick Montros off! Montros jumps back into Dlouze's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Montros throws a strike but Dlouze rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Dlouze stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Montros swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dlouze accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Montros isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Dlouze stacks Montros on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Dlouze!
Montros is not content to let Dlouze control the position.

Emer Dlouze showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Montros shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dlouze but Dlouze pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Dlouze connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Dlouze throws the left hand but Montros avoids the punch easily.
Dlouze takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Dlouze takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Montros changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dlouze tries to avoid it but Montros manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dlouze to the ground. Dlouze escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Dlouze counters with a nice body shot.
Dlouze paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Emer Dlouze seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Montros scores with a one two! Dlouze had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Montros just misses with a punch to the body.
Dlouze throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Montros stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Montros thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Dlouze if he has to take too many more of those.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Montros is defended easily by Dlouze.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Montros. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Montros lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dlouze circles away quickly and effectively.
Montros will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dlouze ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Montros moves away.
Dlouze looks to throw the jab but Montros is out of range.
Montros swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Montros cracks Dlouze with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Montros thows a body shot but no joy.
Dlouze throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Dlouze swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Montros.

Dlouze misses with a hook. Montros ducked under it nicely.

Montros stuffs the takedown attempt from Dlouze. Dlouze gets slowly back to his feet.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Montros.
Dlouze smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Montros misses with a takedown attempt - Dlouze sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Montros counters with a single leg into guard. Dlouze didn't expect that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Emer Dlouze comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dlouze has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
