PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gabbie Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay comes to the cage accompanied by Why Can't We Be Friends. Peters has chosen Sevendust - Enemy as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Gabbie Jay has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gabbie Jay seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gabbie Jay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Peters!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jay throws a left and a right that both miss
and Peters counters with a nice leg kick.
Jay misses with an uppercut
enabling Peters to counter with a crisp jab.
Jay just misses with a punch to the body.
Jay has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Jay lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Peters at a distance.
Peters will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jay looks to score with a jab to the body but Peters is just out of range.
Jay throws an off balance right hand
and Peters counters with a leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Peters throws a sloppy head kick
letting Jay counter with a right hand.
Jay displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Peters throws out the jab.

and Jay counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Jay counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Jay takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

and Peters counters with a nice low kick that buckles Jay's knee momentarily.

and Jay counters with a nice uppercut.

Peters throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jay counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Peters tries a low kick but Jay avoids it.

Jay cracks a nice hook into Peters's ribs.
Jay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Peters manages to avoid it.
Peters closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Peters throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jay fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Peters looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Peters has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Jay throws a right hand that misses
and Peters counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jab by Jay.
Jay looks to throw the jab but Peters is out of range.
Jay throws a hook but Peters blocks it.
Peters drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Peters takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Jay falls off balance throwing a combination
and Peters counters with a slapping leg kick.
Peters misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jay.

Peters slips under a jab.
Jay feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Peterss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Peters lands a nice shot to the body.
Peters takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Gabbie Jay is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Peters walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Jay swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gabbie Jay will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jay looks to land a combination but Peters avoids it well.

and Jay counters with a left to the body.
Peters shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jay defends it nicely.
Peters is looking to chop away at Jay's legs.

Peters drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Peters is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jay will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Jay is in trouble now - Peters has advanced to mount!

Peters lands a big shot there that rocks Jay but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Peters breaks from Jay's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Jay bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Peters is controlling Jay's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Peters has his foot on Jay's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jay works his way back into a safe position though.

Peters looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jay would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Jay stays in close to Peters's body and controls the position.

Jay decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Jay counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jay lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Peters at a distance.
Peters takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

and Jay counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Peters counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jay won't be happy with that.
