Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oliver Cornell!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Steve Montenegro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cornell is defended easily by Hill.
A low kick from Cornell is predictable there
and Hill counters with a stiff right hand.
Cornell checks the leg kick nicely there.
Hill tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cornell misses with a left hand
and Hill counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cornell takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Hill motions for Cornell to come forward. Hill throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Cornell walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Cornell pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Cornell shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Cornell was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hill is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Cornell throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Cornell trying to control but Hill is having none of it.
Hill slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Hill wants to control but Cornell is keeping busy.
Hill tries to roll over but Cornell keeps him under control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hill is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cornell scores with a couple of nice shots.
Cornell thows a huge punch but Hill dodges it nicely.
Cornell trying to control the action but Hill is working from the bottom.
Cornell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hill's head.
Cornell thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hill tries to roll over but Cornell keeps him under control.
Cornell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Cornell not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hill blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cornell.
Cornell seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Cornell throws a strike but Hill avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Cornell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hill keeping moving, preventing Cornell from controlling successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hill is on top in guard.
Cornell wants to sweep but no luck.
Hill trying to control the position from guard on top but Cornell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hill in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bobby Hill will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Cornell slips under a jab.
Hill throws a hook but Cornell avoids it easily.
Cornell misses with a left hand
and Cornell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cornell gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Hill makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Cornell really felt that one!

Cornell drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Hill scores with a sloppy right hand. Cornell should have avoided that one.
Hill chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Cornell misses with a right hand
and Hill finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hill, right into the meat.
Cornell misses with a hook to the body
and Hill counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hill sizes up Cornell with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Cornell gets cracked there but stands up to it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cornell shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hill counters with a left to the body.
Cornell misses the shot to the body.
Hill jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
A decent looking cross lands there for Hill.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hill motions for Cornell to come forward. Hill throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hill throws a body punch but Cornell moves out of range.
Hill throws a head kick that misses.
A slow jab from Hill misses its intended target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Hill dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Hill throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Cornell scores with a hook to the body. Hill takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Hill throws a low kick but it's checked well by Cornell.
Hill swings for the body but Cornell moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hill misses with a hook. Cornell ducked under it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cornell swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Hill makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Cornell falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Hill counter with a right hand.
Bobby Hill is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hill rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Cornell counters with a takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Hill's face as Cornell controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hill sneaks back into half guard.
Hill avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cornell.
Hill manages to get to full guard.
Cornell controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Cornell looking to sit in guard and control but Hill gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cornell preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cornell trying to control the position.
Hill wants to control from the top but Cornell keeps moving.
Cornell wants to sweep but no luck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Cornell looking to control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hill throws a lazy head kick

and Cornell counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Cornell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hill's head.

Hill blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cornell.

And that's the end of the fight!
Oliver Cornell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hill has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
