Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Skjelbred!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patricio Silva!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skjelbred misses with the combination.

Skjelbred has taken the fight to the clinch.
Skjelbred prevents a takedown attempt there.

Skjelbred manages to break the clinch.

Skjelbred has closed the distance and engaged Silva in a clinch.

Skjelbred breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Skjelbred throws a nice head kick!
Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Skjelbred counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Skjelbred.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Skjelbred wants to stand and escape but instead Silva has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Skjelbred really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Skjelbred gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Skjelbred wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Skjelbred accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Silva looking for a sweep. Not yet Silva, not yet.
Silva can't keep his opponent in guard - Skjelbred advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Skjelbred not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Skjelbred stalling.
Silva has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Skjelbred is working away from the top position though.

Skjelbred works his way into full mount!
Skjelbred controlling the position easily from mount.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Skjelbred wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely.

Skjelbred is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Silva can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Skjelbred goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Silva turns into him and now he's in Skjelbred's guard.
Skjelbred is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Skjelbred looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silva is one step ahead there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Skjelbred pulls Silva in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Skjelbred closes the distance and clinches.

Skjelbred keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.
Silva controlling from the top position.
Silva looking to pass the guard.
Silva works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Silva is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Skjelbred sees it coming and defends easily.
Silva is looking to take a break and control but Skjelbred is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Skjelbred tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control.
Skjelbred is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Silva seems to be working for a kimura but Skjelbred defends the submission attempt.
Silva is stalling here. Skjelbred is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Silva seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Skjelbred has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Skjelbred stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Skjelbred closes the distance and clinches.

Skjelbred's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
John Skjelbred seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva moves out of range as Skjelbred throws a body kick.

Skjelbred decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Skjelbred content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
John Skjelbred overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Skjelbred looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Skjelbred trying to control from half guard but Silva is working away.
Skjelbred throws a strike but Silva avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Silva has his hands on Skjelbred's head, controlling the position.

Silva has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Skjelbred is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Silva.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard.

Silva is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Skjelbred off and has taken his back!
Skjelbred is keeping busy.
Silva is hanging on to Skjelbred's back as he tries to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Skjelbred wants to control his opponent's hands but Silva gets his hands free.
I really don't envy Skjelbred right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Skjelbred shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Skjelbred trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Silva manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Skjelbred is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Skjelbred is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Silva rolls with it to try and escape but Skjelbred cranks on the arm and Silva is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
