PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Osvaldo Torrado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brian Jones!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Osvaldo Torrado!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Fedor Mirinova and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones looks to clinch
enabling Torrado to counter with a crisp jab.
Jones throws a head kick but Torrado moves out of range.
Jones scores with a decent looking hook.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
Some bone on bone action there as Jones checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones connects with a single shot there.
Jones misses with a lunging right hand
and Torrado counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Torrado stuffs the takedown.
Torrado with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Torrado scores with a shot to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Torrado.
A big right from Torrado misses.
Torrado is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jones.
Jones throws a half hearted mid kick.
Jones misses with a combination
and Torrado cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Torrado throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Torrado misses with a hook

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Torrado wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.

Jones is working for a kimura but Torrado is defending it quite comfortably.

Jones is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Torrado doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jones.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jones is looking for a kimura here.

Jones is looking for submissions but instead, Torrado has regained full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Osvaldo Torrado dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Torrado lands a nice hook to Jones's body. Jones takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Torrado throws a poor cross that misses
and Jones counters with a head kick. That will keep Torrado thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Torrado lands a really nice looking cross but Jones seems unphased.
Torrado throws a lazy uppercut
and Jones counters with a stiff right hand.

Jones shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Torrado didn't expect that.

Jones is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jones drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Torrado dives on top into guard.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Torrado defends it easily.

Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Torrado is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Torrado really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jones is working for a kimura but Torrado is defending it quite comfortably.

Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Torrado defends it well.
Torrado is pressing down on Jones's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jones is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Torrado is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Torrado has escaped and now he's on top!

Jones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Torrado defends well.

Jones is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Torrado wants to stand but Jones has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Jones working for a triangle but Torrado defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Jones dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Torrado checks the leg kick nicely there.

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Torrado's guard now.

Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Torrado manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Torrado in his guard.

Jones has his feet on Torrado's thighs here. He's pushed Torrado off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Torrado screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
