Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Karalin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tomasz Szelep!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Konstantin Menshow and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karalin throws a head kick but Szelep moves out of range.
A jab lands there for Karalin.

Karalin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Szelep is trying to defend but Karalin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Szelep looks like he's trying to stand up.
Karalin missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Karalin connects with a nice short shot to Szelep's temple.
Szelep is staying active underneath Karalin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Szelep is trying to stand back up but Karalin is controlling him
Well, if Karalin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Karalin wants to stand up but Szelep is controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Karalin missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Szelep is not content to let Karalin control the position.

Alexander Karalin has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Karalin shoots for a double leg takedown but Szelep sprawls well. He's pushed Karalin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Szelep misses with a combination

and Karalin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Szelep won't be happy with that.
Szelep wants to get back to his feet but Karalin drags him back down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karalin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Szelep keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Szelep takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Karalin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Szelep is not content to let Karalin control the position.
Szelep defending against the ground and pound.
Karalin is looking to take a break and control but Szelep is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Karalin tries to move to mount but Szelep blocks the move with his legs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Karalin working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Szelep is trying to buck Karalin off.
Karalin cracks Szelep with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Karalin wants to control but Szelep is keeping him busy.
Szelep parries the strikes from Karalin easily there. Karalin is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Szelep to escape.

Karalin decides to stand back up. Karalin steps back and let's Szelep get back to his feet.
Szelep shoots in and drives through. Karalin sprawls well.
Szelep looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown by Karalin or perhaps it was just good defense by Szelep which made him look bad.

Karalin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Szelep's half guard.

Karalin is working for a kimura but Szelep is defending it quite comfortably.
Karalin is pressing down on Szelep's thigh, looking to free his foot. Szelep is holding on for now.
Szelep is trying to stand up here but Karalin is controlling him well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Karalin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Szelep does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Karalin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Karalin dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Karalin gets the takedown into side control.


Szelep is rocked!

Karalin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Szelep is still in real trouble! Can Karalin finish him?
Karalin in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Szelep looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Karalin turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexander Karalin!
