PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lewis Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Webb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Lewis Wood has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Lewis Wood seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lewis Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charles Webb!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Webb closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wood quickly recovers to half guard.
Wood tries to roll over but Webb keeps him under control.

Webb lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
It looks like Webb might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Charles Webb hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Wood gets caught flat footed, as Webb shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Webb is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Charles Webb dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Wood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Webb swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Webb wants to get back to his feet but Wood is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wood lands a nice short elbow.

Wood looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Webb with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Wood has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Webb's face.

Wood is landing with some decent strikes but Webb is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Wood postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Webb looks a forlorn figure.
