Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Quattro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mason Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Taylor has chosen Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe as his entrance music. Johnny Quattro could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mason Taylor's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Quattro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mason Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quattro throws a poor cross that misses
and Taylor counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Quattro thinking.
Taylor takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.


It looks like Mason Taylor has been cut.
Quattro with a lazy takedown attempt
and Taylor counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Taylor gets the takedown into side control.
Taylor prevents Quattro from escaping the position.
Quattro regains half guard.

Quattro actively working from the bottom here.
Quattro moves into full guard.
Quattro wants to get back to his feet but Taylor is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Quattro is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Taylor defends well.

Quattro pushes Taylor off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Taylor drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Quattro tries to bench press Taylor off him but Taylor keeps the position.
Taylor tries to advance to mount but can't.

Quattro is looking for a sweep.
Quattro is not content to let Taylor control the position.
The ground and pound from Taylor seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Quattro is trying to get back to his feet.
Quattro tries to buck Taylor off but Taylor is having none of it.
Quattro is working hard here to advance position.
Taylor lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Taylor is putting a hurting on Quattro here, landing some big shots from side control.
Taylor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quattro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Johnny Quattro just wasn't active enough.
Quattro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Taylor as he jumps to the side.

Taylor wants to free his trapped foot but Quattro is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Taylor in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Quattro looking for a guillotine here but Taylor defends easily.

Taylor is looking to work some ground and pound but Quattro has wrist control.
Taylor is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Quattro is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Taylor engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Taylor prevents Quattro from getting back to his feet.

Quattro is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Taylor is aware though and is defending well.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Quattro manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Taylor with a nice cross.
Quattro shoots in for a takedown but Taylor shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Quattro. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Taylor throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Quattro's waist but Quattro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Taylor off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mason Taylor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Quattro is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Johnny Quattro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Taylor gets a double leg takedown into Quattro's guard.

Quattro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Taylor gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quattro wriggles free and stands up.
Quattro ducks under a wild hook from Taylor.
Quattro thows a body shot but no joy.
Taylor fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Quattro avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A telegraphed right hand from Quattro misses the target.

and Taylor counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Quattro rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Taylor cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Taylor swings for the body but Quattro moves out of range.

Quattro has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Taylor is working away from the top position though.

Quattro tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Taylor has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

You get the feeling that Quattro really doesn't like being in this position too much.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Taylor looking to finish Quattro with some ground and pound. This is bad for Quattro!
Quattro really wants to buck Taylor off and get back to his feet.
Mason Taylor has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mason Taylor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Taylor has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
