Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mest Brockenstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Gay Following (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mest Brockenstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Big Gay Following!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Following looking to score a takedown here. Brockenstein is defending well but Following drives through and ends up in Brockenstein's guard.
Following wants to control from the top but Brockenstein keeps moving.
Following working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brockenstein pulls Following in to control the position.
Following should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Brockenstein is trying to control the position but Following postures up.
Following trying to control the position from guard on top but Brockenstein is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Following throws a lazy body kick

and Brockenstein counters with a single leg into guard. Following didn't expect that.
Brockenstein not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Brockenstein with a flurry of punches that miss.
Following looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Brockenstein has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Following is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Brockenstein trying to control but Following is working from the bottom.

Brockenstein slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Following.
Brockenstein working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Following's thigh. Following counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Following looking for a sweep. Not yet Following, not yet.
Following trying to strike off his back.

Following controls Brockenstein momentarily but Brockenstein frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Following trying to strike off his back.
Following is looking to stand up but Brockenstein isn't so interested in that idea.
Following keeping full guard, as Brockenstein tries to pass.
Following looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Brockenstein wants to stand but Following is controlling his posture from full guard.
Brockenstein stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Following swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Following tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Following has eaten all the pies!
Following throws a combination that misses
and Brockenstein finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Following looks gassed!
Following closes the distance looking to clinch

and Brockenstein counters with a takedown into side control.
Following has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Following is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
A lull in the action here.
Brockenstein has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Mest Brockenstein has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Brockenstein shoots and misses

and Following counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Following trying to control the position from guard on top but Brockenstein is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brockenstein wants to sweep here but Following controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mest Brockenstein dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Brockenstein misses with a few strikes there.

Brockenstein takes the fight into the clinch.

Brockenstein escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Following darts in trying to clinch

and Brockenstein moves into the clinch.
Following wants to get back to striking at distance but Brockenstein won't allow it.
Following misses with a shot to the kidneys.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brockenstein breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Brockenstein tries to close the distance and clinch up but Following swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Following gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Brockenstein counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Brockenstein gets a takedown into half guard.
Following is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brockenstein tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Brockenstein is trying to control the action in half guard but Following is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Following trying to hold on to Brockenstein's head to control him but Brockenstein postures up.
Brockenstein slips a nice elbow through Following's hands, connecting with Following's forehead.
Following is not content to let Brockenstein control the position.
Brockenstein is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Following is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Following is trying to stand up here but Brockenstein is controlling him well.

Brockenstein is trying to work for a kimura but Following is defending well.
Ground and pound from Brockenstein.
Brockenstein perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Brockenstein tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Following.
Brockenstein is thwarting Following's attempts to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Brockenstein throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Following's waist but Following gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brockenstein off to one side.
Brockenstein shoots in looking for a takedown but Following manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Brockenstein's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Brockenstein tries a head kick but it misses.
Following wants to clinch up but Brockenstein keeps it at a distance.
Brockenstein shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Following but Following pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mest Brockenstein. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Brockenstein throws a hook but Following avoids it easily.
Following tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Brockenstein moves into the clinch.
Following has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Brockenstein is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Following fails to pull guard.

Following is fighting off a takedown attempt but Brockenstein is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Following to the mat. Following regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Brockenstein being controlled here momentarily.
Brockenstein is working Following over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mest Brockenstein dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Following swats away the attempt to clinch by Brockenstein.
Following swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Brockenstein counters with a nice double leg into side control. Following won't be happy with that.
Following takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Mest Brockenstein overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Following sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Following is trying to stand.
Brockenstein takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Brockenstein wants to lay and pray for a moment but Following keeps working.
Brockenstein knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Following on the ground.

Following kicks Brockenstein off and gets back to his feet.

Brockenstein drives through and clinches with Following against the cage.
Following takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Brockenstein gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Brockenstein stands up from half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Following closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brockenstein to the mat! Brockenstein manages to get full guard.
Brockenstein keeping moving, preventing Following from controlling successfully.
Brockenstein wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Brockenstein had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Following defends it easily.
Brockenstein trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Following gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Following tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Brockenstein counters with a nice double leg into side control. Following won't be happy with that.
Brockenstein tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Following is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Brockenstein off and has taken his back!
Brockenstein trying to control the action but Following just sinks the hooks in.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Following working for a choke but Brockenstein is defending well.
Brockenstein breaks Following's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Brockenstein controls from within his opponent's guard.
Brockenstein has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Following is proving hard to escape from.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Following is trying to keep Brockenstein in close.
Brockenstein showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Following tries to clinch but Brockenstein moves away

and Brockenstein counters with a shoot takedown. Following fights it but they end up in guard.

Following escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brockenstein gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Big Gay Following has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mest Brockenstein is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Brockenstein engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mest Brockenstein showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Brockenstein has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
