PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sgt Parrotface (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Prof Dr Hans Wurst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Wurst's choice of entrance music: Fygeludi - Villech. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Sgt Parrotface!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Prof Dr Hans Wurst!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wurst walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Parrotface checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Parrotface moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Parrotface wants to clinch up but Wurst keeps it at a distance.
Parrotface uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Wurst has time to react.
Wurst checks a low kick from Parrotface.
Parrotface scores with a sloppy right hand. Wurst should have avoided that one.

Parrotface fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Wurst to the ground. Parrotface is now in Wurst's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parrotface controlling from the top position.
Parrotface wants to pass the guard but Wurst is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wurst is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Parrotface is controlling him.
Parrotface works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Parrotface takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Sgt Parrotface wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A head kick misses from Wurst.

Parrotface closes the distance and clinches.
Parrotface tries to pull guard but Wurst holds him up against the cage and eventually Parrotface drops back down to his feet.
Wurst tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Wurst with a knee to the head.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Wurst wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Parrotface has him pressed against the cage.
Parrotface tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wurst taking a breather.
Parrotface changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Wurst fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sgt Parrotface. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wurst pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Wurst.
A punch combination from Wurst misses.

Wurst gets caught napping as Parrotface dives in and scores a takedown. Wurst manages to retain guard.
Parrotface slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Parrotface throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Parrotface in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Wurst is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Parrotface has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Parrotface is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Wurst looks calm but he's in trouble here. Parrotface gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Wurst is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Parrotface lets go of the hold and Wurst can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sgt Parrotface!
