PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Davis Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doc Morbid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morbid is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Duran Duran - Wild Boys. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morbid defending well as Black loads up on a big left hand.
Black connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Morbid momentarily.
Morbid tries to clinch but Black moves away
and Black cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Morbid tried to score with a low kick but Black checks it.
A head kick by Morbid misses
and Black counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Morbid misses with a leg kick

and Black counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Black is controlling the pace.
Black thows a huge punch but Morbid dodges it nicely.
Black looks to land a strike but Morbid avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Black throws a big right hand that misses.
Morbid utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Black looking to sit in guard and control but Morbid gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Black pulls Morbid in close to his closed guard and prevents Morbid from doing any damage or advancing position.
Black tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Morbid is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Black controls Morbid momentarily but Morbid frees himself.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Black looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Black has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Davis Black.
Morbid moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Black connects with a good right hand that stumbles Morbid. Morbid circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

A close round but Doc Morbid will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Black fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Morbid manages to avoid it.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Black checks a leg kick.

Morbid moves into range and clinches up with Black.
Black trying to stall but Morbid improves his position.
Black tries to throw a body punch but Morbid avoids it by throwing Black back against the cage.
Black looking for a takedown.
Black slowing the pace effectively.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Morbid moves out of range as Black strikes.
Morbid goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Black scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

and Black counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Black connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Morbid tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Black manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Morbid tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

and Morbid counters with a thumping low kick.

Morbid feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Black's calf.
Morbid tries to clinch there but Black circles away.

Black catches Morbid with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

and Morbid counters with a good low kick that Black was not able to check.
Morbid looks for the body kick but Black saw that one coming.
Morbid lets loose with a powerful body kick. Black will feel that in the morning.
Morbid tries to land a front kick but Black steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Black tests Morbid's chin there with a solid looking shot.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Black.

Doc Morbid showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Morbid stuffs the takedown attempt from Black. Black gets slowly back to his feet.

Black fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Morbid sprawls well initially but Black persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Black moves into full mount! Morbid won't be happy about that!

Morbid manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.

Morbid is staying active underneath Black, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Morbid really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Black. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Black frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Black throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Davis Black has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Black throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Morbid because Black loaded up on that one.
Black scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Morbid?

Morbid takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Black pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Morbid tries to hold on but Black pushes him away.

Black swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Morbid is now in Black's guard. A big mistake from Black there, giving up the dominant position!

Black has Morbid pulled in close to control his posture.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Black bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Morbid's guard.
Black throws a strike but Morbid rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Black looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Davis Black showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Morbid has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
