The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Susic shoots and misses
and Alves counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Susic dives in and scores a takedown into Alves's guard.
Susic has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Susic is fighting to break Alves's control of his arms but Alves is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Susic is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Alves is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Alves has escaped and now he's on top!

Susic has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Alves wants to control from the top but Susic keeps moving.

Susic is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Susic escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alves gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Alves tries to free his leg and advance position but Susic is retaining full guard.

Susic is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Alves frees his head nicely. Oh but Susic has switched to an armbar! Alves is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
