PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Batista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muay Thai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Batista comes to the ring accompanied by rock star. Thai comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Deadly Muay Thai Skills kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Batista!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Muay Thai!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Batista shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Batista was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Batista blocks Thai's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Thai wants to try and get back to his feet.
Batista is stalling here but it's allowed Thai to get half guard.
Batista is stalling here. Thai is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Batista seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Thai has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Batista knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thai on the ground.

Thai stands up and beckons Batista to his feet.

Batista utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Thai gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Thai closes the distance and pushes Batista back into the ropes.
Batista takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Dave Batista has been cut.

Thai's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Thai tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Batista counters with a single leg into guard. Thai didn't expect that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Thai wants to get back to his feet but Batista is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thai is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Thai scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.

Batista drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Thai manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Batista has Thai in his guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Batista working for a triangle but Thai defends it easily.
Batista might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Batista is breathing heavily.
Thai with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Thai stands and steps away. Batista gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Batista counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Batista is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Thai sees it coming and defends easily.
Thai is staying active underneath Batista, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Batista stops Thai from getting back to his feet.
Thai is trying to maintain the position but Batista is very close to passing his half guard.

Thai makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Batista swats away the attempt to clinch by Thai.
Muay Thai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thai is looking to clinch but Batista is avoiding it.
Thai lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Batista backs up against the ropes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Muay Thai dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dave Batista's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Batista takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Batista tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Thai pushes Batista up against the ropes in a clinch.
Thai gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Batista takes an elbow to the temple.


Dave Batista's cut is getting worse.

Thai breaks from the clinch.
Thai is looking to clinch.
Thai fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.


Dave Batista's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thai tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Batista manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Batista shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thai pinned against the cage. Thai gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Oooooh!!! Thai has knocked Batista down with a huge combo! Thai steps away and waves a wobbly Batista back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Thai moves in looking to clinch but Batista pushes him off.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jeez, Dave Batista's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
