PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Too Fast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fast comes to the cage accompanied by I'm On it - Jon Connor. The crowd seem to be enjoying Mir's choice of entrance music: Spoilin For A Fight . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Too Fast!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fast misses with a lunging right hand

and Mir counters with a single leg into guard. Fast didn't expect that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mir landing some decent shots from guard.
Miris looking to pass into half guard but Fast pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Fast is in guard.
Fast is looking to work some ground and pound but Mir has wrist control.
Mir manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fast manages to get himself to full guard.
Mir trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Mir trying to control but Fast is working from the bottom.
Mir has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mir is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Mir forces his way into half guard.
Mir wants to control but Fast is keeping him busy.

Mir thows a huge punch but Fast dodges it nicely.
Mir seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fast does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mir is looking to advance position but Fast won't allow it.

Fast is trying to maintain the position but Mir is very close to passing his half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Frank Mir was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Fast throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Mir counters with a single leg into guard. Fast didn't expect that.
Mir controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mir working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Fast's head.
Mir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fast swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fast keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully.
Mir slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Fast working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mir.
Mir trying to control the position from guard on top but Fast is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Mir is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Frank Mir was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Fast misses with a right hand

and Mir counters with a takedown into side control.
Mir in side control lands a decent elbow.

Mir is trying to get an arm triangle but Fast is defending well.
Fast is not content to let Mir control the position.

Mir looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Mir is trying to ground and pound but Fast uses the momentary lack of control by Mir to regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mir throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Fast is looking to improve his position.

Mir is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fast avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mir.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mir maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Fast could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mir has cracked it and Fast is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mir!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Frank Mir!
