Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nobutaka Hiyoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Injun Merlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hiyoshi comes to the cage accompanied by Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter. Merlin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ladies and Gentlemen. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hiyoshi leaves Merlin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The fighters circling - Hiyoshi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hiyoshi closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like Injun Merlin has been cut.
Hiyoshi lands a nice hook to Merlin's body. Merlin takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Hiyoshi misses with an uppercut

and Merlin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Merlin trying to control the position from guard on top but Hiyoshi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Merlin prevents Hiyoshi from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hiyoshi kicks Merlin off and gets to his feet.

and Hiyoshi counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Merlin looks gassed!
Hiyoshi scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hiyoshi lands an uppercut, right on the button! Merlin tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
