The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir with a poor takedown

and Cherenkov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mir won't be happy with that.

Cherenkov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ruslan Cherenkov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cherenkov jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Mir is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Mir and Cherenkov has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mir misses with a takedown attempt

and Cherenkov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Mir has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cherenkov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mir has gone for a leg lock! Cherenkov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mir's guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Mir bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Mir throws a strike but Cherenkov rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Ruslan Cherenkov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mir can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cherenkov controls the pace.

Well Cherenkov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
