The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitlam shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Reed but Reed pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Reed ducks under a wild hook from Whitlam.
Reed lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Whitlam backs up against the cage.
Reed tries to bum rush Whitlam with a series of wild strikes but Whitlam uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Whitlam throws a looping overhand right but Reed ducks down to avoid it.
Whitlam paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Reed ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
josh Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whitlam fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Whitlam takes one to the chin there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Whitlam looks to land a combination but Reed avoids it well.
Reed fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Whitlam manages to avoid it.

Reed rushes Whitlam and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Reed lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Reed throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Reed lands a big elbow - Whitlam is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Reed!
