Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James Kirk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sean Michaels!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirk throws a leg kick
and Michaels counters with an inside leg kick.
Kirk thumps Michaels with a low kick.
Kirk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Michaels connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Good leg kick by Kirk there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Michaels gets caught flat footed, as Kirk shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Kirk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Michaels swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and Michaels counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Kirk is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kirk lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Michaels has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Michaels and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
James Kirk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

enabling Michaels to counter with a crisp jab.
Kirk feints and then cracks Michaels's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Michaels down.
Some bone on bone action there as Michaels checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

and Michaels counters with a flying knee. Nice.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Michaels jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kirk throws the kick towards the body but Michaels avoids it.

and Michaels counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Michaels throws a sloppy head kick and Kirk moves out of range easily.

and Michaels counters with a good low kick that Kirk was not able to check.

and Michaels takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Michaels throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Michaels uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kirk.

and Michaels counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kirk's knee momentarily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Michaels lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Michaels throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Michaels showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Michaels cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Michaels swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Michaels stuffs the takedown attempt from Kirk. Kirk gets slowly back to his feet.
Kirk lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kirk shoots for a double leg takedown but Michaels sprawls well. He's pushed Kirk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Michaels, as that shot connected.

and Michaels counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Kirk. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Michaels counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Michaels chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kirk can pounce on him.

and Michaels makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Kirk really felt that one!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
