Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Belfort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh Vendo!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belfort tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Vendo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Belfort.
Belfort tries to clinch but Vendo moves away

and Vendo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Vendo.
Vendo prevents Belfort from getting back to his feet.
Belfort is wriggling around but Vendo manages to pass to half guard.
Belfort tries to kick Vendo off but Vendo keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Vendo is trying to work for a kimura but Belfort is defending well.
Vendo is pressing down on Belfort's thigh, looking to free his foot. Belfort is holding on for now.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Belfort is looking for a sweep. Vendo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Belfort wants to control but Vendo postures up.
Belfort regains half guard.
Vendo is looking to take a break and control but Belfort is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Belfort avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Vendo.
Belfort wants to get back to his feet.

Vendo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Vendo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vendo is trying to control. Belfort wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Vendo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Belfort sees it coming and defends easily.
Vendo stops Belfort from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Belfort wants to control but Vendo is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Vendo missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Belfort is trying to stand back up but Vendo is controlling him

Vendo is looking for a kimura here.
Vendo sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Belfort defending well though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Vendo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Belfort's guard.

Vendo stands up from Belfort's guard - Vendo perhaps looking for a knockout.
Belfort misses with a series of wild punches.
Vendo tries for a takedown but Belfort circles away easily
and Belfort counters with a good low kick that Vendo was not able to check.
Belfort throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nice cross by Belfort.


It looks like Josh Vendo has been cut.
Belfort tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Vendo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Belfort won't be happy with that.

Vendo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Vendo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Vendo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Vendo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Belfort knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Belfort is trying to get back to his feet.

Vendo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Belfort is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Josh Vendo has got the better of the ground game so far.
Belfort is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Vendo has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Belfort is trying to get back to his feet.

Vendo is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Belfort is trying to escape and Vendo transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Belfort is forced to tap! Nice work there by Vendo! Very nice indeed!
