Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michio Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason McGuy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Michio Suzuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jason McGuy!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Suzuki.
McGuy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

McGuy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Suzuki to the mat! Suzuki manages to get full guard.

Suzuki is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McGuy tries to free his leg and advance position but Suzuki is retaining full guard.
Suzuki is trying to keep McGuy in close.
Suzuki really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Suzuki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McGuy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McGuy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
McGuy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McGuy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
McGuy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Suzuki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Suzuki shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and McGuy counters with a head kick. That will keep Suzuki thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Suzuki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGuy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGuy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Suzuki is breathing heavily.

Suzuki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McGuy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McGuy gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

McGuy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGuy is looking to stand up but Suzuki won't let him.
McGuy wants to control from the top but Suzuki keeps moving.
McGuy pushes down on Suzuki's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McGuy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Suzuki does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Suzuki wants to improve his position but McGuy is controlling well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Suzuki circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jason McGuy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Suzuki shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Suzuki showed some decent athleticism there.

Suzuki is trying to work for a kimura but McGuy is defending well.

McGuy has hold of Suzuki's hands but Suzuki slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Suzuki is pressing down on McGuy's thigh, looking to free his foot. McGuy is holding on for now.

Suzuki is nestled in close to McGuy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Suzuki is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, McGuy has managed to free his arm - good work.
Suzuki uses his free foot to push down on McGuy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McGuy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason McGuy dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from McGuy lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Suzuki has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Suzuki and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
McGuy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Suzuki jumps guard but McGuy stands there with Suzuki around his waist. Suzuki gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

McGuy is trying to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGuy fails to pull guard.
McGuy tries to break the clinch but Suzuki is controlling the position.

McGuy manages to break the clinch.
Suzuki fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Suzuki shoots in but McGuy avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Suzuki gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGuy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McGuy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Suzuki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Suzuki is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Suzuki will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Suzuki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McGuy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McGuy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McGuy throws a right hand that Suzuki ducks under and follows up with a left that Suzuki also avoids with ease.
McGuy throws a low kick, looking for Suzuki's leg but Suzuki calmly moves out of range.
Suzuki looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
McGuy throws a body kick that misses.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Suzuki is looking to control McGuy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Suzuki avoid being mounted?

Suzuki is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but McGuy pulls his head out easily.
McGuy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Suzuki's head.
Suzuki is looking to control McGuy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Suzuki avoid being mounted?

Jason McGuy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Suzuki seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

McGuy wants to stand and escape but instead Suzuki has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Suzuki is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McGuy is just riding it out for now. Suzuki eventually gives up the hold.
