Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Martin Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett Studer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Studer has chosen let the bodies hit the floor as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Martin Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brett Studer!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawk looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Hawk is working for a submission of some sort.
Hawk trying to control from Studer's half guard. Studer has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Studer throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hawk working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hawk might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Studer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hawk is one step ahead there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hawk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hawk is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Studer uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Studer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hawk moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Studer has his takedown stuffed

so Hawk counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hawk is breathing heavily.
Studer looking to control.
Hawk tries to free his leg and advance position but Studer is retaining full guard.

Hawk drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Studer manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hawk has Studer in his guard.

Hawk is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Studer is aware though and is defending well.

Hawk looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Studer is looking to stand up but Hawk won't let him.
Studer lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Studer scoring with punches to the head and body.

Hawk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Studer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hawk is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Studer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Studer postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Hawk has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Studer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Studer pushes down on Hawk's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Studer keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Hawk wants to get back to full guard.
Studer trying to control from half guard but Hawk is working away.

Studer is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hawk looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Hawk trying to hold on to Studer's head to control him but Studer postures up.
Hawk tries to roll over but Studer keeps him under control.
Hawk wants to control the action here but instead Studer manages to pass to full mount!
Hawk tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Studer postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hawk looks a forlorn figure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Martin Hawk will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Studer tries to sprawl but Hawk drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Hawk wants to pass the guard but Studer is keeping the position.

Studer is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Studer has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hawk clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Studer controlling well, preventing Hawk from escaping the position.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Hawk staying busy and making it hard for Studer to control.
Hawk wants to control his opponent's hands but Studer gets his hands free.
Studer has the hooks in. Hawk is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Studer is looking to control Hawk but Hawk is wriggling around and keeping busy.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hawk tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hawk can't escape the position.
You get the feeling that Hawk really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Hawk is in all sorts of trouble here.
Hawk is bucking up trying to escape but Studer cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Hawk is looking to get to half guard.
Hawk tries to lock up and control but Studer gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hawk tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Studer looking for a guillotine from mount but Hawk is having none of it.
Hawk tries to buck Studer off but he can't manage it.

Hawk wants to control but Studer is having none of it.
Hawk is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Studer pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Hawk on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hawk tries to get out of the position.
Hawk tries to hold on but Studer pushes him away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hawk is trying to escape the mount.

Studer get's back to his feet.
Hawk looks for a takedown but Studer sprawls well.
Studer shoots and misses

and Hawk decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Studer's guard.
Hawk is looking to work some ground and pound but Studer has wrist control.

Studer looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Studer wants to stand but Hawk is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hawk trying to control the position from guard on top but Studer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Brett Studer will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Studer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hawk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hawk tries to escape but Studer is in control.
Hawk is looking to reverse the position.
Brett Studer has got the better of the ground game so far.

Studer decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Studer throws a one two combo.
Studer misses with a takedown

and Hawk counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Studer!

Hawk jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Studer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Studer and Hawk has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Studer is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hawk is controlling him well.

Hawk cracks Studer with a big right hand but Studer just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hawk thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hawk goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Studer rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hawk's guard! Nice work there by Studer!
Studer wants to control from the top but Hawk keeps moving.

Hawk had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Studer defends it easily.

Hawk wants to get back to his feet but Studer is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Hawk working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Studer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Studer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hawk has his foot on Studer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Studer works his way back into a safe position though.

Hawk is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Studer defends well.

Hawk is looking to sinch up a triangle. Studer throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hawk's body to avoid the submission. Hawk has instead reached around Studer's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hawk arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
