Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hokkus Pokkus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Zirkhov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pokkus's entrance music is Pantera - Walk. A fine choice. The key to victory for Hokkus Pokkus has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hokkus Pokkus!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yuri Zirkhov!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zirkhov tries for a takedown but Pokkus circles away easily
and Pokkus counters with a good low kick that Zirkhov was not able to check.
Pokkus fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pokkus slaps away a takedown attempt from Zirkhov, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Pokkus is looking to clinch.
Pokkus displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Zirkhov.
Hokkus Pokkus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Zirkhov.
Pokkus connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Zirkhov drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pokkus on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pokkus tries to get out of the position.

Pokkus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zirkhov on the ground.

Zirkhov wants to control from the top but Pokkus keeps moving.
Pokkus looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Zirkhov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Pokkus will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
It looks like Zirkhov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Yuri Zirkhov.
Zirkhov has a takedown stuffed.
Pokkus connects with a high kick.

Pokkus tries to clinch up.
A head kick misses from Pokkus.
Pokkus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Zirkhov shoots in and drives through. Pokkus sprawls well.
Pokkus tries to clinch but Zirkhov moves out of range.
Pokkus takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

and Zirkhov counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pokkus's guard now.

Zirkhov wants to pass the guard but Pokkus is keeping the position.

Zirkhov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Zirkhov trying to control the position from guard on top but Pokkus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Zirkhov is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Yuri Zirkhov wasn't active enough on the ground.
Zirkhov tries for a takedown but Pokkus sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Zirkhov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Zirkhov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pokkus tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Zirkhov is in Pokkus's guard.
Zirkhov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pokkus's guard.
Zirkhov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pokkus knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Zirkhov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Pokkus's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Pokkus swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nice takedown defense from Pokkus. No joy for Zirkhov on that attempt.
Zirkhov takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Pokkus tries to clinch but Zirkhov is having none of it.
Pokkus keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pokkus connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Yuri Zirkhov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hokkus Pokkus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Zirkhov.
Zirkhov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pokkus circles away.
Zirkhov takes a kick to the side of the head.
Zirkhov looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Pokkus moves in looking to clinch but Zirkhov pushes him off.

Zirkhov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Zirkhov wants to control the pace but Pokkus is squirming around nicely.

Zirkhov is looking to work his way around to Pokkus's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Zirkhov goes for an armbar but Pokkus turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Pokkus.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Yuri Zirkhov hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Zirkhov shoots in but no luck this time.
Pokkus wants to clinch.

and Zirkhov counters with a takedown into side control.
Zirkhov works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Zirkhov trying to control the action but Pokkus is working from the bottom.

Yuri Zirkhov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Zirkhov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pokkus as he jumps to the side.
Pokkus slaps away a takedown attempt from Zirkhov, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Pokkus makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Hokkus Pokkus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Zirkhov.
Zirkhov takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Zirkhov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pokkus tries to clinch but Zirkhov moves out of range.
Pokkus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Pokkus tries to clinch up but Zirkhov circles away and keeps his distance.

Zirkhov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pokkus swivels and escapes.

Zirkhov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pokkus did well to prevent Zirkhov getting side control.

Zirkhov is trying to work for a kimura but Pokkus is defending well.

Zirkhov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Yuri Zirkhov has got the better of the ground game so far.

Zirkhov is pressing down on Pokkus's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pokkus is holding on for now.

Pokkus has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zirkhov is working away from the top position though.
Yuri Zirkhov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Zirkhov wants to pass the guard but Pokkus is defending well.
Pokkus is in trouble now - Zirkhov has advanced to mount!

Hokkus Pokkus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Zirkhov trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Pokkus is trying desperately to improve position.
Zirkhov tries to control but Pokkus wriggling away.
Zirkhov moves to the back position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yuri Zirkhov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Zirkhov winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
