The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Verrus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rizzo is nestled in close to Verrus, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Rizzo wants to work for an arm triangle but Verrus is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Rizzo is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Verrus has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Verrus!
