PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Emelineko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gideon Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emelineko comes to the cage accompanied by Champions. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Emelineko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gideon Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Emelineko.
Emelineko is looking to take a break and control but Gonzalez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Emelineko in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Emelineko tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Emelineko has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gonzalez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Emelineko is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gonzalez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gonzalez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Emelineko is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Emelineko stands up over Gonzalez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Emelineko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gonzalez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gonzalez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gonzalez!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Emelineko postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gonzalez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Emelineko, into his guard.
Emelineko wants to stand but Gonzalez is controlling the position.

Gonzalez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Emelineko shoots in but Gonzalez avoids the takedown attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Emelineko shoots in and bounces Gonzalez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gonzalez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Gonzalez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Emelineko manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gonzalez has Emelineko in his guard.
Gonzalez controls Emelineko momentarily but Emelineko frees himself.

Emelineko stands and steps away. Gonzalez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Nice takedown defense from Gonzalez. No joy for Emelineko on that attempt.

Gonzalez tries a head kick but it misses.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gonzalez enables Emelineko to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gonzalez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Gonzalez in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Emelineko tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Gonzalez!
