PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack McLumberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Padrone Shinobi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McLumberg's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, AC/DC - Thunderstruck. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack McLumberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Padrone Shinobi!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shinobi misses with a takedown attempt
and McLumberg counters with a nice body kick.
Shinobi ducks under a wild hook from McLumberg.
McLumberg lands a nice looking body shot.
McLumberg throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Shinobi walks into a stiff left hand from McLumberg.
McLumberg throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Shinobi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McLumberg's guard now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McLumberg not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

McLumberg had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shinobi defends it easily.

Shinobi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and McLumberg dives on top into guard.
McLumberg slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McLumberg stands and throws Shinobi's legs to the side, diving into side control.
McLumberg trying to control the position but Shinobi is working away.
Shinobi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
McLumberg trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Shinobi manages to pass to mount!
McLumberg is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Shinobi is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McLumberg to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McLumberg shrugs it off.
McLumberg is wriggling around trying to escape.

Shinobi is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McLumberg is surviving well by controlling Shinobi's body position as best he can.

Shinobi is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. McLumberg can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
McLumberg knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shinobi on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Shinobi wants to finish this one by submission but McLumberg is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Shinobi.

Shinobi has control of McLumberg's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and McLumberg regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Shinobi sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Shinobi goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now McLumberg is on top in guard.

Shinobi isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McLumberg stacks Shinobi on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McLumberg!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McLumberg tries to advance to mount but Shinobi denies him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shinobi is looking for a sweep.
McLumberg trying to control the position but Shinobi is working away.
McLumberg has knee on belly and moves into mount.
McLumberg looking to control but Shinobi is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

McLumberg has hold of Shinobi's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Shinobi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Shinobi slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Shinobi missing with punches from the bottom.
Shinobi is staying active underneath McLumberg, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Shinobi actively working from the bottom here.
Shinobi wants to control but McLumberg is keeping busy and won't allow it.
McLumberg stalling away here and it's allowed Shinobi to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Shinobi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McLumberg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McLumberg is posturing up here but Shinobi has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! McLumberg tries to roll out but it's too tight and McLumberg has to tap! Slick submission there by Shinobi!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Padrone Shinobi!
