PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mason Jiller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ocscar Grouch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jiller's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Lava Lava. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mason Jiller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ocscar Grouch!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jiller gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Jiller gets a trip takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Grouch is refusing to be controlled, as Jiller sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jiller lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Jiller is looking for a kimura but Grouch is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jiller to get the leverage.

Grouch kicks Jiller off and gets back to his feet.

Jiller scores a takedown into full mount!
Jiller trying to control but Grouch is having none of it.
Grouch sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Grouch regains full guard. Nicely done.
Jiller pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Grouch is keeping the position for now.

Grouch has a closed guard, preventing Jiller from standing up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jiller throws a strike but Grouch rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Jiller is looking for a triangle but Grouch pushes his legs off easily.
Grouch wants to pass the guard but Jiller is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Grouch gets to his feet. Jiller looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Grouch enables Jiller to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Grouch manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jiller wants to control from the top but Grouch keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jiller decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Grouch, up you get!
Jiller is breathing heavily.

Jiller closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Grouch quickly recovers to half guard.
Grouch manages to get to full guard.
Jiller wants to stand but Grouch has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Grouch has his feet on Jiller's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Grouch tries to land knees in the clinch but Jiller avoids the damage to the body.
Grouch misses with a hook from the clinch.

Jiller pulls Grouch into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jiller uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Jiller shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Grouch really wants to buck Jiller off and get back to his feet.
Grouch is breathing heavily.
Jiller trying to control but Grouch is having none of it.

Grouch is squirming around, avoiding Jiller's attempts to control the action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jiller looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Jiller can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Grouch is looking to escape.

Jiller stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Mason Jiller is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Grouch moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Jiller drives through and clinches with Grouch against the cage.

Jiller turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Jiller is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Grouch's shoulder. That is not cool.
Grouch gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Jiller is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Grouch is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Jiller stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Jiller throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Grouch tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jiller is in Grouch's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mason Jiller dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jiller seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jiller has Grouch up against the cage in a clinch.

Jiller has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Grouch is trying to keep an underhook but Jiller manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Jiller is trying to control the action in half guard but Grouch is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Grouch regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Jiller.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Grouch is on top in guard.
Jiller controls Grouch momentarily but Grouch frees himself.
Grouch wants to pass the guard but Jiller is keeping the position.
Grouch throws a big right hand that misses.

Mason Jiller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jiller had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Grouch defends it easily.
Ocscar Grouch has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mason Jiller is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mason Jiller showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jiller, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
