Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Soldier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pate Perhana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Soldier!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pate Perhana!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soldier tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Perhana counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Soldier is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Perhana passes the guard and advances to mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Pate Perhana was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Soldier swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Soldier throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Soldier pivots, looking for a leg kick but Perhana is out of range and Soldier settles back down.

Perhana shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Perhana was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Perhana is trying to take his opponent's back.
Perhana content just to control the position here.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Perhana's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Perhana closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Soldier's guard.
Perhana slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Soldier swings widly with a right hand

and Perhana counters with a single leg into guard. Soldier didn't expect that.
Perhana sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Soldier's guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Perhana in particular looking to stall.
Soldier is trying to maintain the position but Perhana is very close to passing his half guard.

Mike Soldier has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Soldier wants to slow Perhana down by chopping away at his legs.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Soldier throws a wild body kick that Perhana sees coming a mile off.

Perhana closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Soldier quickly recovers to half guard.
Perhana takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Pate Perhana was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Soldier fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Perhana checks it well.
Perhana fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Soldier avoids it really well and circles away.

Mike Soldier is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Soldier looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Perhana shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Soldier motions for Perhana to come forward. Soldier throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Soldier throws a low kick but Perhana moves out of range easily.

and Perhana counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Still in half guard, Perhana seems content to control.

Perhana moves into full mount! Soldier won't be happy about that!

Pate Perhana showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Soldier turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Soldier throws a low kick but it's checked well by Perhana.

and Perhana counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Perhana.
Perhana looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Mike Soldier wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Perhana shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Soldier pinned against the cage. Soldier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Perhana on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Perhana will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Soldier plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

A nice inside leg kick there by Soldier. That's going to slow Perhana down.

and Perhana counters with a nice double leg into side control. Soldier won't be happy with that.
Soldier wants to control but Perhana postures up.
Perhana is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Soldier will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Perhana tries to advance to mount but can't.

Perhana remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Soldier tries to land a front kick but Perhana steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Perhana takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Soldier lands a leg kick that knocks Perhana off balance momentarily.
Mike Soldier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Perhana fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Soldier sprawls well initially but Perhana persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Soldier.
Pate Perhana is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Perhana avoids a kick to the body.
Soldier attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Soldier tries to close the distance and clinch but Perhana swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
