The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tiu misses with a takedown attempt

and Rutger counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rutger has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Tiu wants to sweep here but Rutger controlling him for the moment.
Rutger keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tiu's head.

Rutger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tiu swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rutger is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Tiu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rutger defends it easily.

Tiu has his foot on Rutger's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rutger works his way back into a safe position though.

and Rutger decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tiu's guard.
Rutger wants to control from the top but Tiu keeps moving.

Tiu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rutger can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
