Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Cowlam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Miranda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ricardo Miranda is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jamie Cowlam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricardo Miranda!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowlam fails with a takedown attempt.

Miranda closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Miranda tries for a kimura but Cowlam is defending well.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Cowlam is looking for a sweep.
Cowlam prevents Miranda from improving position.

Miranda avoids the strikes from the bottom by Cowlam.
Miranda scores with a couple of short elbows.

Cowlam has had enough of the clinch but Miranda keeps him there for the moment.

Cowlam shoots in for a double leg but Miranda sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cowlam tries to close the distance and clinch but Miranda swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Miranda is working an open guard so Cowlam takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cowlam tries for a takedown but Miranda sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamie Cowlam. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Miranda gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Cowlam counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cowlam slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Miranda wants to stand up but Cowlam is controlling him.
Cowlam not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Cowlam gets to his feet. Miranda looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Cowlam shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Miranda napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Cowlam working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cowlam lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Miranda down.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Miranda tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cowlam wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Cowlam has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Cowlam darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Cowlam drops an elbow to the side of Miranda's head.
Cowlam content to control rather than advance.
Miranda is trying to control but can't.

Cowlam seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Miranda is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Cowlam stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Miranda to get to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Miranda enables Cowlam to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Miranda manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cowlam shoots in looking for a takedown. Miranda tries to sprawl out of it but Cowlam keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Miranda manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Miranda has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cowlam is working away from the top position though.

Cowlam takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Miranda wants to improve his position but Cowlam is controlling well.
Cowlam is nestled in close to Miranda, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Jamie Cowlam overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cowlam content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Miranda wants to control but Cowlam is keeping busy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Cowlam seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Miranda for as long as he can get away with.
Miranda is trying to control Cowlam's posture but Cowlam avoids it.

Cowlam tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cowlam has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ricardo Miranda has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jamie Cowlam is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Miranda tries to improve position but can't.

Jamie Cowlam showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cowlam, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
