Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Torsten Hoffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Torsten Hoffman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Askren!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Askren shoots in and bounces Hoffman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hoffman looking for a guillotine here but Askren defends easily.
Hoffman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Askren manages to get himself to full guard.
Hoffman controlling from the top position.
Askren really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hoffman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Askren controls Hoffman momentarily but Hoffman frees himself.
Hoffman wants to pass the guard but Askren is keeping the position.
Hoffman with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoffman with a nice head shot there.
Hoffman won't allow Askren to get back to his feet.
Hoffman wants to pass the guard but Askren is keeping the position.
Hoffman passes into half guard.

Hoffman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hoffman is keen to just control but Askren is a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Askren wants to get back to his feet.
Hoffman sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Askren defending well though.
Askren blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hoffman.
Hoffman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Askren looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hoffman missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Hoffman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Askren does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Askren kicks off Hoffman and gets to his feet.
Ben Askren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Askren shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Askren was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hoffman is trying desperately to improve position.
Hoffman regains half guard.
Hoffman is pressing down on Askren's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hoffman is on top in guard.

Hoffman drops back, looking for a kneebar! Askren looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Askren looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Askren!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Askren is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hoffman will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hoffman sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Hoffman manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Askren content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Hoffman pushes a forearm under Askren's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Askren is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Torsten Hoffman!
