PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Urho Koskela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Valdemar Tuco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tuco has chosen Frank Dellé - Pound Power as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Urho Koskela!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Valdemar Tuco!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tuco avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Urho Koskela seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Koskela closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Koskela lands in his opponent's guard.
Koskela wanted to stand there but Tuco had control of the position.

Tuco has his foot on Koskela's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Koskela works his way back into a safe position though.

Tuco throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Koskela escapes and throws Tuco's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Tuco looks gassed!
Tuco tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Tuco tries to improve his position but instead Koskela has taken his back!
Koskela is looking to control Tuco but Tuco is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Koskela has the hooks in. Tuco is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Tuco is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Koskela.

Koskela trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Koskela misses with an elbow to the head.
Tuco trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Tuco is trying to break free.
I would not like to be Tuco right now.
Tuco wants to escape the position.

Koskela is hanging on to Tuco's back as he tries to escape.
Tuco manages to reverse the position and now he's in Koskela's guard. Nice work there by Tuco.
Koskela knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tuco on the ground.

Tuco is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Tuco wants to finish this one by submission but Koskela is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Tuco.
Koskela stops Tuco from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Koskela's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Tuco moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Koskela has worked his arm free - good work by Koskela!
Koskela is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Tuco is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Koskela has escaped the position, nice work there.
Tuco wants to lay and pray for a moment but Koskela keeps working.

That was a close round but I would say that Urho Koskela will probably get the nod.

Urho Koskela has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Valdemar Tuco.

Koskela lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Tuco or not.
Koskela digs a right hand underneath Tuco's ribcage. Tuco let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Tuco drops down looking for an ankle pick but Koskela pulls his leg out and moves away.

Koskela shoots for a double leg takedown but Tuco sprawls well. He's pushed Koskela's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The fight stays on the outside here - Koskela looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Tuco changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Koskela looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Tuco swings around for an armbar but Koskela sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Tuco's guard.
Koskela has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Tuco bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Koskela's guard.

Koskela shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Tuco counters with a takedown into side control.

Tuco tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tuco has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Valdemar Tuco has got the better of the ground game so far.

Tuco thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Koskela pushes Tuco away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tuco gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Tuco is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Koskela is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Tuco thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Tuco looking to control but Koskela is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Tuco has control of Koskela's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Koskela regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Tuco jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Koskela is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Koskela and Tuco has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Koskela regains half guard there - taking advantage of Tuco's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Tuco is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Koskela is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
