Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hector Godfrey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dante Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a wild combination.
Godfrey doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.

and Godfrey counters with a head kick. That will keep Smith thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Godfrey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smith, pushing him back against the cage.
Smith looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Smith lands with a left to the head.

It looks like Hector Godfrey has been cut.

Godfrey has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Smith uses from the top position.

Smith should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Smith is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Godfrey is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dante Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Godfrey counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Smith is defending against the submission attempts here by Godfrey.
Godfrey prevents Smith from improving his position.
Godfrey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Smith regains full guard. Nicely done.

Godfrey postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Smith is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Godfrey, into his guard.
Godfrey is breathing heavily.
Godfrey is looking to sweep but instead, Smith has passed into half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Smith content to control rather than advance.
Godfrey tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Smith seems to be looking for submissions.
Godfrey slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Smith throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Godfrey.

Smith lands a left and a right that send Godfrey crashing to the mat, dazed. Smith thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Godfrey crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
