Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goldman has chosen Muse - Uprising as his entrance music. Hugh Matthews is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hugh Matthews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Goldman!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Goldman moves into the clinch.
Matthews wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Goldman lands a shoulder strike.
Still in the clinch, Goldman scores with a nice short uppercut.
A head punch on the inside from Goldman fails to land.
Matthews goes for a takedown in the clinch but Goldman prevents it.

Matthews breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Matthews misses with a shot to the body
and Goldman counters with a one-two to the body.
Goldman tries to clinch there but Matthews circles away.
Matthews moves to clinch but Goldman breaks away
enabling Goldman to counter with a crisp jab.
Matthews stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Matthews takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Matthews rushes Goldman and presses him up against the cage.

Matthews is trying to trip Goldman. He has hold of a leg but Goldman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Matthews persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Goldman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Matthews can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goldman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Matthews defends well.

Goldman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Matthews's guard.

Matthews kicks Goldman off and gets to his feet.

Matthews scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Goldman doesn't seem bothered though.

and Goldman counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Matthews moves in looking to clinch but Goldman pushes him off.

and Goldman counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Matthews thinking.

Matthews gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Matthews is working for takedown but Goldman is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hugh Matthews. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Goldman lands an uppercut.

Goldman is fighting off a takedown attempt but Matthews is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Goldman to the mat. Goldman regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Goldman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Matthews doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Matthews manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Goldman is working to avoid the ground and pound but Matthews connects with a decent elbow.

Goldman tries to buck Matthews off but Matthews is having none of it.

Goldman is looking for a sweep. Matthews is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Matthews seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Goldman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Matthews connects with a nice short shot to Goldman's temple.
Matthews is taking a breather. Goldman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Matthews winds up and cracks Goldman with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Matthews is looking to take a break and control but Goldman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Matthews frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Goldman tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Matthews lands a big shot there that rocks Goldman but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Matthews lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Goldman is still in real trouble! Can Matthews finish him?
Matthews postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Goldman in real trouble here! The ref calls for Goldman to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
