PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Da Giant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Giant has chosen Eye of the Tiger as his entrance music. Kane has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andy Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Da Giant!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Giant.
Andy Kane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kane is breathing heavily.

Giant closes the distance and pushes Kane back into the cage.

Giant pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Giant throws a leg kick that misses.
Giant throws a sloppy head kick and Kane moves out of range easily.

Giant is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kane's half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Giant is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Giant postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kane to stand up.

Giant feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Giant drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Giant jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Giant trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Giant tries to free his leg and advance position but Kane is retaining full guard.
Giant wants to stand but Kane is controlling his posture from full guard.
Giant must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kane can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Giant controls the pace.
Giant wants to control from the top but Kane keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kane throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Giant escapes and throws Kane's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Kane tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Giant wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kane, who protects the arm well.
Kane tries to improve position but can't.
Giant passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Kane!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Giant is standing up, even though he is in mount.
No joy there for Giant, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Giant gets a takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kane looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Kane wants to get back to full guard.
Giant is keen to just control but Kane is a slippery customer.

Kane is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Giant pulls his head out easily.

Kane is trying to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Giant is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kane sees it coming and defends easily.
Kane manages to get to full guard.

Giant avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kane looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kane looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Da Giant dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Giant throws out a leg kick but Kane moves out of range and Giant only half commits.
Giant throws a sloppy head kick and Kane moves out of range easily.
Giant lands with a nice body punch.
Giant throws a series of strikes that have Kane backpedaling.


It looks like Andy Kane has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Giant lands a two punch combo.
Kane doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Giant closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kane to the mat! Kane manages to get full guard.

Giant got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kane has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Giant has managed to get both his arms back between Kane's legs - danger averted.
Giant trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Kane manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kane is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Giant really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kane. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kane drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Giant manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kane has Giant in his guard.
Giant stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kane swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kane escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Giant gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Giant stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kane swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kane looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Giant wants to control from the top but Kane keeps moving.
Giant slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kane gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Giant prevents Kane from getting the reversal.
Kane is working hard here to advance position.

Giant looking for a guillotine from mount but Kane is having none of it.
Giant manages to capitalize on a mistake by Kane to take his back!
Giant has the hooks in. Kane is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Giant not allowing Kane to control his hands.
Da Giant has got the better of the ground game so far.

Giant looking for the choke but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kane rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Kane is pressing down on Giant's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Kane is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Giant has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kane is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Giant is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
