Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Arcturus Balfour (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Hode (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hode comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Arkansas Razorback Fight Song kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Arcturus Balfour could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Scott Hode's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hode misses with a right hand
and Balfour counters with a straight right hand.
Balfour swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hode counters with a stiff right hand.
Hode misses with a hook
and Balfour counters with a right hand to the body.
Balfour looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Balfour stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Balfour throws a jab but it's blocked by Hode.
Hode changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Balfour tries to avoid it but Hode manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Balfour to the ground. Balfour escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Balfour lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

and Balfour counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Balfour makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Hode throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Balfour's waist but Balfour gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hode off to one side.

Balfour connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hode momentarily.
Hode shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hode is controlling the pace.

Hode's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Hode wants to control but Balfour is keeping him busy.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Hode perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Scott Hode.
Hode showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Balfour.
Balfour takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Hode tries for a takedown but Balfour sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hode postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Balfour looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hode throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Hode avoids the body shot from Balfour.
Hode tries to score a power double leg takedown but Balfour sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hode somewhat.
Balfour gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hode to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Balfour bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hode's guard.

Balfour will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hode has his feet on Balfour's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hode shoots in looking for a takedown. Balfour tries to sprawl out of it but Hode keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Balfour manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hode uses his free foot to push down on Balfour's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Balfour.
Scott Hode has got the better of the ground game so far.

Balfour knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hode on the ground.

Balfour is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hode misses with a head shot.

Balfour is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Hode lands a big shot there that rocks Balfour but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hode content just to control the position here.
Hode jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Balfour is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Balfour and Hode has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Balfour tries to improve position but can't.
Balfour is not content to let Hode control the position.
Hode tries to score with some ground and pound. Balfour controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
And that's the end of the fight!
Scott Hode comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hode has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
