The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melton tries for a takedown but Diaz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Melton closes this distance looking for a takedown but Diaz circles away.
Melton shoots in looking for a takedown. Diaz tries to sprawl out of it but Melton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Diaz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Troy Melton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Diaz lands a nice looking body shot.
Diaz sizes up Melton with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Melton takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Diaz bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Melton's head backwards.
Diaz feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Melton's calf.
Diaz scores with a shot to the body.
Diaz works over Melton's head and body with a nice combination.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Melton walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Diaz ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Diaz cracks Melton with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Diaz lands with a straight right. Melton didn't see that one coming.
Melton gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Diaz's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Diaz duly obliges.

Diaz fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Diaz connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Diaz cracks a nice hook into Melton's ribs.

Diaz swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Melton.
Diaz scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Diaz lands with an uppercut that bounces Melton off the cage and back into rage.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Melton. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Diaz feints with a jab and clips Melton right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Melton is sent crashing into the canvas and Diaz leaps in for the kill! Melton tries to get to his feet but Diaz is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Melton is in need of a savior and steps in!
