Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fabio Lima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lima comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman, Metallica. Mitchell comes into a darkened arena with his song building. DesertStorm/DJClue - Money Power Respect kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Mitchell!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lima shoots in and drives through. Mitchell sprawls well.
Mitchell moves in looking to clinch but Lima pushes him off.
Mitchell tries to clinch but Lima moves away

and Lima counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mitchell won't be happy with that.

Lima thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lima is trying to ground and pound but Mitchell uses the momentary lack of control by Lima to regain half guard.

Lima is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mitchell defends it well.

Lima is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Lima works his foot free and advances to mount.
Lima lands a big elbow.
Lima tries to control but Mitchell wriggling away.

Lima goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Mitchell turns into him and now he's in Lima's guard.
Lima is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mitchell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lima bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mitchell's guard.

Lima slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Lima is really struggling to control Mitchell but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Lima looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Mitchell is not content to let Lima control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Lima shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mitchell sprawls well. Mitchell wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lima gets slowly back to his feet.

Mitchell forces Lima back against the cage and clinches.

Lima escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mitchell throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lima counters with a head kick. That will keep Mitchell thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Horrible takedown by Lima or perhaps it was just good defense by Mitchell which made him look bad.
Lima shoots for a takedown but Mitchell saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jay Mitchell hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Lima wants to control but Mitchell is keeping him busy.
Fabio Lima overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lima cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Lima has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mitchell's face.
