PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Fuller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rj Paned (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, John Fuller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Rj Paned!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paned shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fuller wants to get back to full guard but Paned has mounted him!
Paned controlling the position easily from mount.
Paned scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Fuller?

Paned has hold of Fuller's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Fuller manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Fuller wants to hold on but Paned pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fuller keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee warns Fuller that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Paned should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Fuller slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Paned tries to stand and escape but Fuller is controlling the position.
Fuller is concentrating on defense, preventing Paned from advancing position.
Fuller trying to control from the bottom.
Paned thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Fuller is trying to maintain the position but Paned is very close to passing his half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. John Fuller wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Fuller motions for Paned to come forward. Fuller throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A nice leg kick lands there from Fuller.
Paned takes a head kick and keeps coming.

and Paned counters with a single leg into guard. Fuller didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Paned showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Paned has eaten all the pies!
Paned won't allow Fuller to get back to his feet.
Paned stays in close to Fuller's body and controls the position.
Paned trying to control the position from guard on top but Fuller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Paned really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fuller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rj Paned was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A head kick by Fuller misses

and Paned counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fuller's guard now.
Paned looks gassed!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fuller keeping full guard, as Paned tries to pass.

Fuller has his feet on Paned's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Fuller lands a leg kick that knocks Paned off balance momentarily.
Fuller scoring well with a low kick there.
Fuller misses with a head kick.
Fuller with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Fuller feints and then cracks Paned's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Paned down.
Fuller throws a head kick that misses.
Fuller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fuller throws a head kick that misses.
Paned fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fuller avoids it really well and circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fuller throws a push kick but Paned slaps the foot to one side.
Fuller pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fuller scores with a kick to the body.
Paned avoids a kick to the body.
A low kick from Fuller misses

and Paned counters by clinching up.
Paned drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fuller pulls his leg out and moves away.

Paned gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Paned pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Paned on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fuller connects with a leg kick. Paned looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Fuller lands with a nice body kick.
Paned takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Paned will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rj Paned dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Paned is defended easily by Fuller.
Paned tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fuller manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Good leg kick by Fuller there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Fuller scores with a head kick.
Fuller misses with a low kick.
Fuller throws a head kick but Paned moves out of range.
Paned shoots in but no luck this time.
Paned's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Fuller misses with a low kick.
Fuller lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Fuller attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Rj Paned is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fuller lands with a kick to the ribs.
Paned takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fuller is looking to land body kicks.
Fuller throws a chopping leg kick but Paned manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Paned moves out of range as Fuller throws a body kick.

Fuller throws a low kick but it's checked well by Paned.
Fuller throws a head kick but Paned moves out of range.
Fuller throws a half hearted mid kick.
Fuller thumps Paned with a low kick.
Fuller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Paned counters by moving into the clinch.
Fuller is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Paned successfully pulls guard.
Fuller sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Paned's guard.

Paned is trying to control Fuller's posture. Fuller takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for Paned! Fuller is rotating here... this could be the end... Paned is out! Fuller has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). John Fuller!
