The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ejes shoots in and gets a takedown into Whittaker's guard.

Whittaker has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Ejes off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Ejes swats away the attempt to clinch by Whittaker.

so Ejes counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ejes throws and elbow that misses. Whittaker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ejes's guard. Nice move by Whittaker!
Ejes wants to stand but Whittaker is controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jermaine Whittaker has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Ejes throws a poor cross that misses

and Whittaker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ejes's guard.
Ejes wants to stand up but Whittaker is controlling him.
Whittaker trying to control but Ejes is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jermaine Whittaker.

Whittaker scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Ejes scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Whittaker manages to mount him!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ejes tries to buck Whittaker off but Whittaker takes his back!
Ejes is trying to get back to his feet but Whittaker has full control of the position and if anything, Ejes has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Whittaker has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Ejes! Can he survive? No! He's out! Whittaker gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
