Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Hollis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heath Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hollis might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to UGK - Pocket Full of Stones. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Hollis!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Heath Smith!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hollis doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Hollis takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Hollis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smith manages to avoid it.
Smith takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Hollis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Hollis counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Hollis thows a body shot but no joy.
Smith throws a body punch but Hollis moves out of range.

Heath Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hollis bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Hollis is looking to chop away at Smith's legs.

Smith feints and as Hollis raises his hands in defense, Smith changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hollis wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment.

Smith drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hollis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hollis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hollis!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hollis's waist but Hollis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hollis wants to control but Smith is keeping busy.

Smith throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Smith lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hollis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Smith stalling.
Hollis wants to get back to full guard.

A close second round but Heath Smith will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Smith is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hollis is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hollis has escaped and now he's on top!
